About Me.

I’m a milliner with a love of creating quality hats, crowns and headpieces. Every piece is made by me, Melissa Rath, and my designs range from colourful wide-brimmed hats and dainty little crowns to something a little quirky.

I began making millinery as a hobby just before I started at Woolerina, where I worked with industrial sewing machines and CAD systems. I’ve spent over 20 years studying the textiles, clothing and footwear industry, including clothing manufacture and small business management at Wagga Wagga TAFE, and further study at Box Hill TAFE in Melbourne.

My love of haute couture, fabric manipulation, beading and knitting inspires me to draw on techniques from many handicrafts to create the right hat or headpiece for you. While at Woolerina, I was also a Girl Guide and Junior Guide leader and taught my Guides to sew breast care bags. I later completed my Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
